ABOUT


Dallas-raised, Los Angeles-based Branden Brown is a saxophonist, composer, and music educator. He holds an MM in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California and a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. Brown has studied jazz saxophone with Brad Leali and Bob Mintzer, composition and arranging with Vince Mendoza and Jason Goldman, and classical saxophone with Dr. Eric Nestler. In addition to his roots in jazz and classical music, he takes inspiration from all genres of music including pop, electronic, and avant-garde. Brown’s work is influenced by artists who revolutionized the role of improvisation in the jazz ensemble, such as Ornette Coleman, Charlie Haden, Don Cherry, and the members of the World Saxophone Quartet.
